PLAN was founded in 1991 by architect and town-planner Armando Daniel Dos Reis.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1956, brought up in a Portuguese family, Armando completed his studies at the University of Móron in Buenos Aires, where he lived and worked till 1987, the year in which he was invited to integrate an international team of specialists responsible for the elaboration of the Regional Plan for Regulation of the Algarve Territory (PROTAL), by the Commission of Regional Coordination for the Algarve (CCR Algarve). It was the first plan of its kind to be elaborated in Portugal.
Following his experience with CCR Algarve, Armando was then invited to coordinate the Masterplan of the internationally renowned luxury residential and touristic development of Quinta do Lago. In 1991 he became Quinta do Lago´s official consultant for urban design and architecture.
Parallel to his activity at Quinta do Lago, S.A., it was also in 1991 that Armando founded Planassociados (today PLAN Associated Architects). A company based on a philosophy of constant search for quality, innovation, professionalism and democratic spirit, where each element of the technical team should play an equally significant role within the company, thus contributing towards the end result of each project.
At PLAN he used and developed his skills in the most diverse areas – architecture, urban planning, touristic projects, residential, service, commercial projects. He received various national and international prizes.
It was with the deepest sorrow that on the 25th of March of 2009 we suffered a great loss. More than the founder of a company, a father, a brother, a husband, a friend, a teacher, an inspiration to all who benefited from his presence, his light, his smile. Armando left us at the early age of 52, but he left us so much. PLAN shall continue the legacy and the philosophy of a man who was always an example of courage and taught us to fight for our dreams.
